We really took our time in finding the perfect location to build Zen Retreat. Beachside was an option but for us when we visited this spot set in the bush and surrounded by flowers, palm trees and all the sounds of the birds and other wildlife. It was a no brainer and Zen was created. It's hard to describe in words how amazing this place is. You really have to come and experience for yourself.
Zen really is Zen. and as soon as you arrive through the reception gate we guarantee you will immediately forget of any worries you may have.
That's the Zen promise.
We are proud to say that Zen Boutique Retreat was built all with local material and built by local craftsman, and builders, all fabrics fixtures and fittings all right here from Zanzibar. All tables and chairs have been made on site from left over wood from the build. Here at Zen we are a single use plastic retreat. We offer free drinking water and re usable water bottles and encourage all guests not to bring single use plastic into the retreat, All of our fruit, veg and seafood all purchased from the community and local fisherman. Over 60% of the Zen team are from the local village
Zen Retreat Centre is Available all year round and prices for retreat hire is upon request. Here at Zen and Live Life Retreats we can help you curate your bespoke retreat. We are here to arrange any excursions, airport transfers, general information about Zanzibar. If you need facilitators for your retreat we can assist in finding you the right teachers for your retreat.. We can tailor all packages to suit your every need, from dietary requirements to organising your safari adventure of a lifetime.

Zen Boutique Retreat / Resort is just 1hr 20 minutes from Zanzibar International Airport. by taxi. Zen has the best of both worlds, being set back within nature, we are still only a 10 minute walk to the nearest white powdery beaches and turquoise Indian Ocean. Paje centre only 10 mins via a taxi, this is where most restaurants and local gift shops are located.
Upon arrival at Zanzibar airport a tourist visa is required of $50, this can be purchased online before arrival. Zen Retreat can arrange all return airport transfers for guests
