Directions and Travel

The Retreat at Upper Barns is a 16th Century barn surrounded by open farmland on the Essex/Suffolk border and provides the perfect place to press pause, generate fresh thinking and stimulate insight, whilst still being just an hours drive from London. By Car: Sat Nav Users should use CM7 4BY and, with the village green on your right, continue down the high street and Upper Barns is up the lane to your left just as you are about to leave the village. We can WhatsApp a direct location which allows you to find us easily. By Train: The nearest station is Braintree which is on the Greater Anglia line from London Liverpool Street. Upper Barns is a 20-25 minute taxi from the station. By Plane: We are 30 minutes from Stansted airport for those coming from further afield.
