Location

Enjoy the beauty of Baja California Sur

Baja California Sur is located on the southern half of the Baja Peninsula, and encompasses the international beach resort of Los Cabos, traditional towns like Todos Santos and San Pedro as well as the capital city of La Paz. The region includes nature preserves, pristine beaches, historical mission towns, and more. It is bordered to the north by the state of Baja California, to the west by the Pacific Ocean, and to the east by the Gulf of California (Sea of Cortez).
Our town of San Pedro is a quiet, safe and rustic little ranching town about 20kms from the center of La Paz and the Sea of Cortez. Depending on the season it offers great scuba diving , snorkelling, whale watching, hiking, kiteboarding, surfing and desert trekking all within an hour or two of travel from the camp.

Location

Climate

The climate of La Paz is sub-tropical desert, with a pleasantly warm winter from December to March, and a very hot summer from May to October, within which there is a relatively rainy period from July to September.
The city is located in Mexico, at 24 degrees north latitude, in the inland part of Baja California, the one that not receiving the cold sea current of the Pacific, is characterized by high temperatures, as well as a warm sea in summer. Furthermore, we are in the southern part of the Baja California peninsula, the one most affected by humid currents in the July-September period, although the total rainfall is still low.

Grey Whale Tours

At the beginning of each year, grey whales embark on a long journey from the Bering Strait, near Alaska, to the warm waters of the Sea of Cortez.
Where to see the whales:
Magdalena Bay: located 3 hours north of La Paz, this bay is home to one of the most diverse ecosystems in the world. Besides grey whales, you can also spot dolphins, turtles, herons and sea lions. You can take a boat from Puerto San Carlos or Puerto Adolfo Lopez Mateos, or join a tour from La Paz.
El Vizcaino Biosphere Reserve: San Ignacio Lagoon (February-March) is where whales come to mate and give birth to their calves. You can even stay at some eco-friendly camps nearby. Ojo de Liebre is a group of lagoons that hosts many animal species and is a paradise for ecotourism.

Swim with Whale sharks

The best time to swim with whale sharks is from October to April.

Dive or Snorkel in Cabo Pulmo National Park
Cabo Pulmo is a 17,571 acre Marine Protected Area and national park . Visitors travel here to enjoy warm, crystal clear water, long stretches of sandy beach, and coral reefs that provide outstanding scuba diving and snorkeling. It's also home to the only coral reef in the Sea of Cortez. The park became a reality due to the initiative and effort of the local community in coordination with scientists, academics, civil organizations, and the government to protect the natural area. The maritime environment has made a great recovery and is now a safe refuge for migratory species such as sharks, humpback whales, sea turtles, and whale sharks. Cabo Pulmo offers truly world class diving and snorkeling
