Riversdale Lodge - luxurious retreat centre only 40 minutes from London

A riverside oasis, settled in an area of superb natural beauty overlooking the Thames, only 40 minutes from London

Description

Welcome to Riversdale Lodge. Originally built in 1890, this historic, charismatic house has been beautifully renovated to unite all the luxuries of a boutique hotel with all the comfort of a home.

At the heart of the house is the spacious studio, lit via large rooflights and complete with underfloor heating, intelligent lighting, and speakers. There are also a number of expansive living areas, including a drawing room with a log fire and TV and a cinema room. A long, tree-lined garden stretches from the house to the river’s edge, ending in a large jetty overlooking the Thames and Cookham Moor beyond.

The Studio

The studio comfortably accommodates 22 mats, plus 1 teacher. The studio is lit from above via 3 huge rooflights and at night you can see the fairy lights of the roof terrace. There are 2 portable speakers that can be moved between the studio and the garden. The studio has 20 sets of yoga mats, bolsters, straps, eye masks, cork blocks and 40 cork bricks.

The Bedrooms

Our bedrooms sleep up to 24, and are finished to the highest standard, with single and double beds, beautiful decor, and luxuriant carpets. The bathrooms are spacious and superbly fitted with marble surfaces and hardwood floors. There is underfloor heating throughout, to ensure you are always cosy.

The Food

The main kitchen is a wonderful communal space, with plenty of room to connect with your guests. Sharing good food is central to our lives, and we are passionate that food should be both a joy to experience and a healing influence for our health. We are able to offer a catered hire option, with delicious, locally-sourced meals prepared by our chef.

The Food

The River

The river is home to 42 different species of birds, including our two swan families who will greet you as you lounge under the weeping willow. The moorlands are a peaceful background to the jolly sight of boats gliding up and down the river. And if you want to join them, in the boatshed you will find 3 paddleboards, a canoe, and life jackets.

The Grounds

A long, tree-lined garden stretches from the house all the way to the river’s edge, ending in a large jetty overlooking the Thames and Cookham Moor beyond. The large, flat lawn and deck serve as an idyllic location for outdoor yoga.

At the end of the garden is our Meditation Orb, a warm, cosy space lit by twinkling lights, for individual or small set group meditation, looking out onto the river. You can gather around the fire pit to enjoy the sunset overlooking the river, drinking teas prepared in our riverside kitchen.
