In the afternoon and evening, you can explore beautiful Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Harbour.
These tailor-made therapeutic retreats take place in our venue, not far from the sea mid-way between Bournemouth and Poole. It is just about a ten-minute car ride to the sea or the town centres of Bournemouth or Poole where you will find a variety of shops and eateries. The famously upmarket area of Sandbanks in Poole is approximately an 8 minute drive from Penn Hill and Bournemouth with its white sandy beaches, palms and stunning coastline is a 10 minute drive away. A visit to Poole Quay with its many fine restaurants, boats and marina and under cover shopping centre makes for a very pleasant day out.  A ferry from Sandbanks can also be taken across to Brownsea Island.

By plane, there is Bournemouth Airport in Hurn, where you can get a taxi to the Retreat. Or, from any other airport, a coach will take you to Bournemouth Coach station. Arriving by coach from any part of the United Kingdom brings you to Bournemouth Coach Station. At this stage of your journey, you are almost there. You can take a taxi to the House or you can use a local bus, the M1 from the Square.
By rail to Bournemouth train station, the retreat is a short taxi ride away. Or from Parkstone train station, it is a nice walk.

Questions we will cover during your stay: how to train a wandering mind when attempting mindfulness meditation, and how to stay focused during your daily activities; but particularly, how to overcome overwhelming worries and fears. Mindfulness Practice helps you deal with stress in a much more holistic way for overall wellbeing. Jon Kabat-Zinn, the founder of modern day mindfulness created the MBSR course; Mark Williams developed MBCT. CBT is also a great means of coping with addictions e.g., alcohol, drugs or smoking. The Mindfulness Now teaching Programme has been designed by Nick Cooke. Many of these motivational speakers found their inspiration from Judge Thomas Troward, a 19th century writer who wrote books and lectured on Metaphysics: the power of the mind.

A FUSION OF MINDFULNESS PRACTICES AND INTERFAITH PEACE AND ENLIGHTENMENTS

Friday 20 September: 3 sessions including an Introduction to Mindfulness, an Overview of Mindfulness and Peace Studies and their interconnections; can we develop a Logic of Peace with Mindfulness and Enlightened Consciousness at its core?
Saturday 21 September: 3 sessions comprising further Advanced Mindfulness Practice Sessions and Overviews of the Value of Mindfulness for Education and Academia and relevance to interfaith peace work eg the Gaza-Israel war.
Sunday 22 September: 3 sessions including further Advanced Mindfulness Trainings plus an Introduction to Enlightenments Research and Analysis for Inner and Outer Peace in the present troubled epoch of history.

Accessibility

We can accept a degree of disability, for example someone who has some mobility even with the use of walking aids. We do have a double front door to allow wheelchair access on the ground floor. There is also a downstairs cloakroom. However we do not have a downstairs bedroom, but there is a chair-lift as an alternative to the stairs to take you to the bedrooms on the first floor. The guests’ lounge, dining room and kitchen are all conveniently situated on the same floor as the meditation room.

Eco Practices

Here at the Retreat Centre we practise a recycling policy.
We collect our grass clippings and dead leaves from potato plants to maintain a compost pile.
We source local produce and grow some of our own vegetables and herbs.
We also grow apples, grapes and passion fruit.
We use energy efficiently and practise water efficiency and conservation.
We conserve on electricity gas and water so as to use energy efficiently and avoid waste.
We make use of natural light as much as possible.
We adhere to practices which reduce pollution. e.g., no smoking walking when possible, no smoking.
We also have bicycles for exploring the area, or going to the shops

Opening Times and Prices

Our mindfulness coaching weekends are available twice a month. Arrival: Thursday evening between 6.30 to 8 p.m.. Departure is on Sunday afternoon about 4 pm. The rate is £330 for one person; £420 for a couple in the same room on a 3-night weekend retreat.. The weekend rate for Exclusive Coaching, one to one, is £420. Exclusive Coaching for a couple is £490. These rates include continental breakfast, teas and coffees PLUS Kitchen facilities. In certain circumstances, where there is a particular need, we may be able to offer you a special rate.

Directions and Travel

From Bournemouth Airport to Poole it is 19 minutes by car, but there are buses too. The M2 brings you to Rosamund House from Poole or Bournemouth.

Arriving by coach from any part of the United Kingdom brings you to Bournemouth Coach Station. At this stage of your journey, you are almost there. You can take a taxi to Rosamund House or you can use a local bus, the M1 from the Square.

By Plane, the local airport is Hurn, from which you will need to take a taxi to get to the Centre.
